Making a portfolio for CS?

I am very new to CS in the business world and new to this community, so if I make any mistakes, please help me understand.
I was thinking that it might be nice to have an online portfolio of some sort to showcase my CS skills. My background is in education so I thought it would be good to help potential companies see how my teaching skills directly relate to customer success.
The question is, how do I show this? I am very active on LinkedIn and try to optimize my profile already. And of course I have done a lot of work on my resume to showcase my skills. Is LinkedIn and a resume enough? Or would it look good to have another online space (a personal website) with a portfolio? And if so, what kinds of items should I include?
Or does a separate website and portfolio not really make sense for CS roles?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
