This week, Jan Young spends some time sharing her experiences at conferences as we start to see IRL events again.

From using online communities to connect with folks all over the world, to finally meeting them in person at two conferences this year, Jan discusses the differences between an online meeting/conference (where multi-tasking is the rule rather than the exception) and attending live, where it was easier to focus on the 'now', followed by conversations and discussions during the event, leading to continued idea exchanges after the events ended.

Sharing the CS focused and tech focused take-aways (and how the different focuses expands your view and allows you to think more broadly) that resonated with her from each conference.

Bottom line? She highly encourages you to think about joining an in-person event if you can. The insights, connections, and conversations are not something that virtual events can fully replicate!

You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
